Add a non-public 'resource' album for essay/page use only

Under Consideration

Uploading images to embed in essays (and stored in the "/custom" folder) can be clunky at best, and most of the time it just doesn't work at all. Using existing images that are present in a public album always works, but I don't want every image I use in essays or pages to be contained in a public album.

Public albums are the only 'container' type that are selectable for inserting image/video content when using Koken's backend widget. Any item contained in an unlisted or private album is not available via any combinations of the drop-down options. Not to mention, there's no way to point to anything previously uploaded into the '/custom' folder from any prior successful or failed image uploads and inserts.

As an alternative to a malfunctioning one-at-a-time upload, why not have the ability to create albums that can be marked as a non-public storage collection for internal use within pages or essays. They won't be directly viewable in any way, and they would be a resource repository only. Every traditional CMS I've ever used has one - why not Koken?

I currently work around that problem by using a specific album category (named "photography") for everything I make public. I than use a filter on my album page to only use albums with this specific category. But it would be way more comfortable to do it in the way you propose.

I would love to see this implemented in the core, currently OxyGen has this feature "somewhat" built in by a switch in the theme settings panel that hides any content with a certain category from the content.lens and by that "hiding" it from public view but still allowing admin to use that content inside pages and essays.

There might also be an additional benefit that occurred to me after posting this... Although I've yet to finish setting it up, I presume LightRoom users would also have direct publishing access to these same resource albums - also assuming all the current functionality remains intact if a new album type was added. I could see this being really useful with LR workflow to prep and then maintain any image files I'd ultimately use in Koken.

As it stands now, I've had to use my host's cPanel file manager or an ftp client to manually delete files that 'failed' during uploads for essay use. There is absolutely no other way to maintain those content files in the backend, especially when they become orphans. I'm hoping there's no pointers or other references in the database to these same files that I'll need to clean up too.

Great thought Randy! Like it very much, but this would require a working LR plugin. Sadly we are far away from having a working one until one uf us can find a coder with all neccessary skills.

Cool idea - and more-or-less a duplicate of http://feedback.koken.me/topic/show-unlisted-photos-when-inserting-media-into-essays-and-pages - you might want to vote for that too...

Not only I like this, but its a basic option for every site so also in free themes.
